I just happened to pick up a monthly free English magazine, Kansai Scene, today. Someone must have thrown away this very magazine I have in hands since it's a copy from Dec2007. But anyways, they have a section written of Khao Yai, another part of Thailand, famous among the Thais, but may not for foreigners especially Japanese.
The magazine says "Khao yai may not be as famous as the sites formerly mentioned (Koh Tao for scuba diving and Chiang Mai for trekking), but it offers just as much in the way of memorable scenery. The park, which is the oldest national park in the country, was first established in 1961 and covers 2,168 square kilometers of grasslands, evergreen forests and mountain ranges. It's conveniently located in Nakhon Ratchasima Province and is the second largest in Thailand. Being part of the UNESCO World heritage Foundation, the land plays host to more than 320 species of birds and roughly 67 types of mammals: many of which are viewable while hiking on the 50 km worth of trails."
That is Khao Yai (though the park actually covers areas of 4 provinces of Thailand - Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Nayork, Prajeenburee and Saraburee). Our house, oh no no, is not in the land of Khao Yai (who can build private property on a national reserved land, right?) but close enough to use its name to ring the bell of its location. :)
Mom bought a piece of land together with 9 other of her university classmates. Each gets equal piece of land, but the location depends on their drawing lucks. It's so cute that they actually did the drawing to determine who gets which piece of land. But I think it was a great idea. ;-) Only a few months after the land was bought, our house was built and it was the first one to get finished.

During the past year, our house got renovated (already). haha. We moved the garage ceiling out (which some of our neighbors felt super happy about ;-)). Not to leave unused tiles a waste, we extended the house into the backyard.

(the right wing is the extended area)
N'Perm originally designed our house to be a one story, simple holiday home. The design was made easy.

But we ended up getting two-story house with two wings. Can you imagine from a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom to a 5 bedrooms/6 bathrooms. Whoo hoo~. Nice~~~~~~.
