Durian - King of the fruits
According to Wikepedia, Durian is native to Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. However, the largest exporter of Durian is Thailand. It's strictly tropical and stops growing when the temperature drops below 22 C. Its shape ranges from oblong to round, the colour of its husk green to brown, and its flesh pale-yellow to red, depending on the species. The one shown in the photo is of Thai Mon Thong. It's the fruit with distinctive odor. Either you love or hate it! (I'm definitely not categorized in the latter group. =P)
Mangosteen
If Durian is the King, Mangosteen shall be the queen! It's dark purple from the outside, deep reddish purple when ripe, and white at the flesh. Some people need to use knife to cut the rind, but I often squeeze (be careful cuz the fruit give you hard stains). Mangosteen gives a good combination to Durian as Durian heats up your internal temperature, while Mangosteen helps to cool it down. Love it!
Another strictly seasonal and tropical fruit, widely found in South East Asia. Rambutan has a red skin with an either red, green or a mixed hairy texture from an outside. When you cut it open, you will find a juicy translucent white flesh that taste really good! This is one of my favorite fruits. Please avoid eating the seed shell as it make the fruit taste bad.
Custard Apple
A fruit of green and brownish bumpy skin. When the skin can be lightly peeled by hands, that's when it's ready to be eaten. The flesh is dirty white to yellowish. The seeds are black and are hidden in nearly every bumpy parts of the fruit. I call it a fruit with million seeds. (definitely need to watch it out!) But I love it!
Lychee
It is a tropical fruit tree native to southern China, but commonly found in South East Asia and the nearby areas. The fruit is rather small, about 3–4 cm long and 3 cm in diameter. It has a pink-red rind and translucent white flesh that covers a dark brown seed inside. Yummy! :)
